I don't have any spectacular pictures from today, but things are progressing. The knobs for the Master Bathroom came today and I'm enamored with them.
The backplates for the receptacles on the kitchen backsplash were in the same box and also very nice.
Today, we have action shots since I wasn't the photographer. :) The "floor guys" had started sanding the upstairs. They will sand three times and then poly three times.
The tiler was working on finishing the fireplace surround
All the doors that aren't over hardwood were hung. Here is an example of how the stained doors look with the painted trim.
AND the kitchen island was being installed. This is it being carried in by four guys. It is HEAVY!
And here it is resting on the island. It needed to be notched to fit between the posts near the seating area.
I can't wait to see it oiled!

Everything but the kitchen sink (literally)
Well, all the counter tops except the kitchen island (and sink) were installed today. I'm very happy with the way all the tops turned out and am anxious to see the island, which I've been promised (hah!) will be installed on Monday morning.
Here is the soapstone in the kitchen, prior to oiling. Once oiled, it should look very different. Instead of the charcoal color, it will be almost black and the veins will be white and greenish. The is Green Mountain Original Soapstone.
The granite in the powder room is Tuscan Gold. I like the dramatic movement on the left side.
The marble in the master bath is Carrara White.
The granite in the boy's bath is Uba Tuba. I'm very happy is is reading black instead of green with the blue paint.
And the granite in the guest bath is Brazilian Green and is also reading very black, which is exactly what I wanted.
Finally, the tiler started on the fireplace surround. Only the floor is done, but he promised to finish the actual surround on Monday.
Carpet Installed
The countertops were delayed, grrr... but I was promised they were all loaded on the truck last night and they would begin installation this morning. The carpet was installed yesterday. The TV room looks very cozy, but the guest bedroom isn't so great with the wall color. If there had to be a paint mistake in a room, I'm very glad it is this one. However, we may be repainting it very soon... We'll wait and see how it looks with furniture.

Hopefully the next time I post, it will be with pictures of our soapstone and granite.

Plumbing finish work begins
The plumbers were back onsite today to begin installation of the plumbing fixtures. My tub was finally in its proper place and shutoff valves were being installed on all the water supply lines. I'm hopeful we will see some toilets and sinks tomorrow, along with our counter tops.
The cabinet in the powder room had been reinstalled post paint and tile.
Here is a picture of the Master bath as you enter from the bedroom. The tub is on the left, the two pedestal sinks will be straight ahead and the shower is on the right.
This is look from my tub towards the shower and master closet (in the rear) and the toliet closet to the right.
The electricians had also been back to relocate the outlet for the hood and the drywaller arrived as I was leaving to do some patch work.

Rebuilt Leaded Glass Windows
My father has almost finished rebuilding the leaded glass windows for the great room. They turned into quite a project. The leaded glass was soldered where it was weak and the frames were built up so they could be inserted into the windows on either side of the fireplace.
Here are the frames after they were built up. The bottom one has a "skin" on it to hide how the frame was extended.
Here is the built up frame with the leaded glass window inserted
And here is the matching window after the "skin" has been applied.
Counter tops scheduled for Thur and Friday!
This is very good news! It means we should be able to stay on schedule. Hopefully the date will not slip and the installation will be a breeze.
Estimated Move In Date!
Today, we got a best case/worst case move in date from our GC. Happy days! It must mean the end is in site. The best case was 8/27 and the worst case was 8/29. Both overshoot our much revised goal of 8/20, but I'm not complaining. I'm just ecstatic to be so near the end.
The electricians are done. The tilers are gone (they will have to come back to do the fireplace surround and the backsplash).
Scheduled for this week is the plumber and carpeting. Hopefully the counter tops will go in also. If they make it in time, the plumber can hook up the sinks at the same time. Otherwise, he will need to come back.
Next week, landscaping, sod and beach will be installed outside and the hardwood floors will be finished inside (this will take the entire week and effectively prevent any other interior work from being performed).
The final week, they will hang the doors, do touch up work and clean.
Here are a few pictures of what was done at the end of last week.
The front porch light was hung
And the pantry light had been lowered
The tile behind the pedestal sinks was completed and grouted.
The laundry room and powder room floors were grouted
And the hood in the kitchen was hung (but didn't have the chimney on yet)
