We are in!

And have been since Thursday. On Thursday night, we moved our beds from the basement and on Friday morning, we moved all the rest of our "stuff". I've been furiously unpacking ever since. I'd say I'm 80% done. As soon as the house is in some sort of order, I'll shoot some pictures. We have lots of people returning on Tuesday for touch up work. I can't wait to be completely settled, but the house is extremely comfortable.

The cleaners are here!

They are still working on lots of little details, but the cleaners arrived today to begin getting the house ready for "us". The painters where there touching up trim and drywall. Our backsplash was grouted and our range was installed

Our wine fridge had also been installed. I can't wait to fill it up!

The door hardware on the main floor was on. We used chrome in the bathrooms

and antique brass everywhere else

The window washers had been there and all the exterior windows were clean, in addition to the windows leading into my office

The front door was also on

We may actually start to move some furniture up to the upper levels tomorrow!

Floors, Kitchen backsplash and plumbing

The last coat of poly went on the floors last night, so there was lots of action finishing things up at the house today.

The tilers were back and installed the kitchen backsplash and the remaining tile in the master bathroom. Both of these projects required the counter tops be in.

I'm pleased and relieved with the way the kitchen backsplash turned out. I redesigned this no fewer than five times in the last two weeks. Here is the section on the range wall

And here is the section I added with extra tile in the nook

The master bathroom tile was also complete and both areas should be grouted tonight.

Our range had moved as far as the nook. I'm expecting it will land in its final "home" soon. This is the 36" 6 burner Blue Star range.

There were lots of plumbing fixtures in as well. They included...

the powder room

the boys' bath

the guest bath

and the kitchen

The shower and shower/tub fixtures were installed. These are not the fixtures we ordered, but they were roughed in wrong. The fixtures were supposed to have porcelain accents and match the sink faucets, but I'm sure I'll forget this soon.

The pedestal sinks were almost done

And the claw foot tub was completed

All in all, an outstanding day! The doors were also all hung and the door hardware was going on. They should be very busy for the next two days finishing everything up, but we hope to be moving in on Friday!

Kitchen Faucet

Our kitchen faucet was installed today when I was at the house.

And I took the time to hang the house numbers. Now people will be able to find us!

Floors are being finished (and lots more action)

There seems to be a lot going on at the house today. The first coat of poly went on the main floor yesterday (there are already two on the upper floors). The holes for the faucet was done on the island today. The plumber is installing the plumbing fixtures. The front door was hung and the interior doors are hung. Hardware is being installed in the house. It is very exciting to see everything come together. We are aiming to be in next week sometime.

Here are the floors in the great room,

I oiled the soapstone!

I couldn't help myself. I had to see what it looked like. The island has some great movement in it and I'm very happy with the seam.

Here is the stone to the right of the range.

The fireplace surround was also completed and I'm very happy with the result and grout color.

Finally, our BlueStar was partially unwrapped so I got a sneak peak at it.
